Pinot Noir is often described as one of the most elegant and expressive grape varieties in the world. Delicate yet complex, it captivates with its silky texture, vibrant acidity, and refined structure. In the glass, Pinot Noir typically reveals aromas of red cherries, raspberries, wild strawberries, and subtle floral notes, often layered with hints of earth, spice, or gentle oak.

A quote often attributed to André Tchelistcheff states, “God made Cabernet Sauvignon, whereas the devil made Pinot Noir.”

In our winery, we like to imagine that Frankovka is our Pinot Noir grape. Elegant, fruity and delicate by nature, but when carefully nurtured and properly controlled, it can produce a serious, complex wine that reflects both finesse and character.

In our winery, we carefully prune Frankovka to ensure a low yield. Additionally, we balance each vine to its optimal capacity through green pruning, resulting in grapes with high extract and concentrated flavors. Timing the harvest is, of course, crucial. For Rosé, Frankovka is usually picked slightly earlier to preserve freshness and delicate aromatics. For red Frankovka, the harvest timing is guided by experience, aiming to produce a serious, structured wine capable of aging gracefully in both barrel and bottle.

Appreciating Local Grape Varieties

As a family signature for our production, we focus on single-variety Frankovka, but we also blend it with Bordeaux varieties. Our first signature cuvée is the PI Cuvée, which combines Frankovka and Cabernet Franc. As the next step, we plan to include Shiraz as well, and for this reason, we have planted Shiraz vines in the top position of our vineyard to ensure optimal ripening.
